Giving my two cents on a great affiliate marketing course from Making Sense of Cents!
First, some background.
A few years ago I stumbled upon a website written by a young woman who posted her monthly income reports she had earned through her blog. Yep, you guessed it. I was researching ways to make money from home, and blogging intrigued me.
I had blogged about my travels overseas for friends and family in the past but when I realized you could actually make money from such an enjoyable pastime, my interest was piqued. This particular income report was $11,927. In ONE MONTH.
What appealed to me about a blogging income was the ability to grow at my own pace (a must for me!) and never have to back a product I don’t believe in. The opportunity to create an income that allowed us to be location independent. To not have to memorize jargon to sell a product or need to grow a team. The ability to create passive income that earns you money while you sleep. It had a low startup cost in comparison to a lot of other businesses, and could reflect my own take on life. I knew it was the right fit for me.
As time passed, Michelle’s income reports became mind blowing. She currently earns over $100,000 per month from her blog Making Sense of Cents. When she announced she had written and released a course I knew immediately that this was something I needed to purchase.
My blog was going to be monetized through affiliate marketing and I wanted to be sure I started out on the right foot. I had developed a trust in Michelle through reading her content over the previous few years and knew I was in for a treat.
So I took Christmas money and splurged. Up until this point I had not invested much money in launching my blog. Most of my learning consisted of hours of online research and reading while sitting up with the baby.
The cost of the course is $197 for a one time payment, or a two payment option of $105 for two months. It was worth every penny. Remember, there is a wealth of proven experience behind this course and you are learning key secrets from one of the top bloggers out there. As my Pa always said, “You get what you pay for!”
I enjoy Michelle’s writing style because it is simplistic and to the point. She doesn’t use complicated idioms (you see what I did there?) and is very basic in how she lays things out. Her course was no exception. The course contains six modules, includes a workbook, and has 30 lessons.
But the best part? She adds you to a private “Mastermind Group” on Facebook that has been invaluable to me as I worked toward launching my blog. I have joined and left various groups over the past year and none have come close to the resource this group is.
Many of the members are master affiliate marketers and offer so much helpful information. Questions are quickly answered and KINDLY I might add. There are beginners and seasoned bloggers. Michelle herself is very interactive in the group and does an excellent job moderating it. Each day of the week there are opportunities to grow your business or share your link or get feedback. She even offers a day to “Ask Michelle Anything” and she will respond within a few hours!
The entire course is text based with no more than 10-15 minutes of work per page of each module. You can go at your own speed and when finished click “Complete and continue” to move to the next page. She incorporates worksheets to download and fill out to get a master plan for your website. Michelle includes plenty of screenshots which I found very helpful as I am a visual learner.
You can go over the course as many times as you like, as you purchase a lifetime membership and get the advantages of any updates over time.
About the modules
Module 1 is an introduction to affiliate marketing. She covers the basics and how affiliate links work.
Module 2 was one of my favorite sections of the course where she delineates how to find and apply to affiliate programs. It is quite in depth and even includes 80+ ideas for affiliate programs depending on your blog’s niche.
Module 3 covers the rules of affiliate marketing. The Federal Trade Commission has regulations on affiliate marketing, and Michelle explains the importance of writing a disclosure and what to do if you live in a Nexus state.
Module 4 is another big one – how to get your readers to convert. This is what it boils down to, is it not? Conversions mean money. Obviously she’s got this one down.
Module 5 covers strategies and ways to promote your links. This module alone has 12 lessons in it – again, invaluable information and an opportunity to learn from someone else’s experience.
Module 6 is titled “Rinse and Repeat” and shares the importance of a good relationship with your affiliate manager as well as what NOT to do, and how to make your strategy long lasting.
Then, Yippie! The BONUS section.
This includes secrets on how to always get approved for an affiliate program with tips from a real affiliate manager, what to do when one of your posts goes viral, how to increase page views, how to maximize Pinterest, increase your revenue through Facebook, and a few worksheets to boost your potential.
In a nutshell
Yes, I highly recommend it, and here is my own affiliate link should you choose to purchase the course after reading my review. It is concise and is backed by a steady stream of testimonials and results. I love reading the stories of real people like you and me who have increased their income monthly after taking this course. It has been so encouraging to me as months have passed and I watch lives changed by people who decided “now is my time!” and took action to make a blog dream reality.
If you are new to blogging, a seasoned blogger who wants to start monetizing their blog, or really want to bump it up a notch, I highly recommend this course. Michelle even offers a 30 day money back guarantee if you can prove you tested the concepts she teaches and have had no results.
Michelle was gracious enough to be interviewed about affiliate marketing and her course!
How has affiliate marketing changed your life?
Affiliate marketing has greatly changed my life! I now earn a GREAT income, I can retire whenever I want, I can travel full-time, I am my own boss, and more. Seriously, affiliate marketing is the best thing ever.
With the feedback you have received from students who have taken the MSOAM course, what percentage of growth have most seen within a month after applying your techniques?
That is a very difficult question to answer, as everyone is different. With my Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course:
- One blogger went from $87 a month in affiliate income before taking the course, to over $1,700 a month after!
- One blogger received their first affiliate sale just two days after taking the course (and they were a brand new blogger too!)
- Another blogger doubled their monthly affiliate income from $2,500 to $5,000!
And there are tons of other success stories as well.
Without giving away your course, what do you believe is the biggest secret to success in affiliate marketing?
I believe the biggest secret is how to correctly approach your audience. So many people think that affiliate marketing is just slapping affiliate links on your website – it’s not that at all!
How many page views a month are necessary to be a successful with affiliate marketing?
You do not need a crazy high number of page views each month in order to be successful with affiliate marketing. I believe that anyone with an influencer platform can be successful with affiliate marketing, regardless of page views. It’s all about approaching your audience and affiliate marketing in the correct way so that you can do it effectively and efficiently. These are all things that I teach in my Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Course.
Did you ever in your wildest dreams see yourself as being one of the top financial bloggers on the web? What advice would you offer to someone who has the dream but a lot of hard work ahead?
Ha, that is funny to even hear! So, no, I never thought I would be a blogger, let alone a full-time blogger. My top tip would be to continue pushing through it and continue to work hard. So many bloggers quit at around the 6th month mark, and that is because blogging requires a lot of hard work and there is a lot to learn. It’s fun, but there is definitely a lot to learn!
What do you find the most rewarding in being a part of the blogging community?
There are so many rewarding things about being a part of the blogging community. You make a lot of great friends (I love attending FinCon – a financial media conference), people who “get” you, and more.
Why should my readers purchase your course?
